Korea Travels: My Solo Trip ㅡ Jeonju Hanok Village

Since this solo trip started in Gwangju, I knew I had to visit Jeonju Hanok Village this time around since it’s relatively near. I visited on a Monday, and it was so crowded! There were loads of Korean students on field trips. I thought I would be able to enjoy the serene atmosphere of Jeonju, but sadly I couldn’t! Heading to Jeonju is relatively easy, just take a bus from U-Square Bus Terminal, the journey takes around 1hr plus, and the ticket is not expensive as well, only 9,600 won to be exact!

This is the first day since I arrived in Korea, that I’m spending the whole day alone and not meeting anyone because it’s a weekday, everyone has school/work so… finally feeling like a solo trip! I decided to have lunch first before exploring the hanok village. I searched for places to eat in Jeonju on Naver, and I found a place selling Jeonju Bibimbap, which is what they’re famous for. It’s not located in the Hanok Village, and it’s actually quite a distance away, but good thing is that I get to avoid the touristy crowd and get to dine among locals. Everyone in the restaurant was local and not a single tourist in sight. Great tip for those who want the Korean experience ㅡ just search for places through Naver! (go and learn basic Korean now)

Lunch was served with soooooo much banchan aka. side dishes, and one entire steamed egg for myself!! The Bibimbap was good as well! If you need the address, just copy this into google maps: 전북 전주시 완산구 전라감영5길 17. The place is called 가족회관!

I honestly feel the photos I took don’t accurately show or portray the vibe of Jeonju. It’s such a nice place, I may be biased because I love Hanoks 😅 But seriously!! I love how there are people wearing hanboks along the street, how there are sooooo many photo worthy spots, also the huge amount of street food here!! Also found a couple of nice cafes but didn’t manage to visit sobs

I wished I spent the night in Jeonju so I could have more time to explore other areas of the city as well… but this just gives me another reason to come back! Ideally, I’ll bring my friends along this time, because I just feel like Jeonju is a place to enjoy with your loved ones!! You can wear hanboks and take photos together while munching on street food, sounds like a great day plan!

I apologize for the lack of “hype” in this post but I really hope this post at least made you feel curious about Jeonju! I was enjoying the atmosphere and didn’t really feel like using a camera… It’s really a very nice place to visit, ideally with friends! I would say that it is still a solo-travel friendly place but it definitely feels more fun with people you love accompanying you!
